Part 3 · Using the app
Tips and FAQ
Small habits that make a claim stronger, and answers to common questions.
Tips
- Run a Future assessment before you start building, so you know what to record.
- Write down what you tried, even the experiments that failed.
- Tag each repo to the right project so its work lands in the right claim.
- Link each person's GitHub author so their hours are estimated for you.
- Write clear commit messages. They become your evidence.
- Print or save every assessment to keep a record for your files.
Common questions
Where is my data kept? In this browser. Projects, people, pay and saved assessments stay on this device. Print reports to keep copies elsewhere.
Does the app change my code? No. It only reads the repos you share.
Can I claim last year's work? Yes, if you are still inside the filing window, usually 18 months after the tax year ends. Use a Past assessment.
Does it file the claim for me? No. It drafts the report and narrative. You or your preparer file with your corporate tax return.
How do I replay the tour? Open the gear at the bottom right and click Tutorial.
