Part 3 · Using the app
Reports and adjusting
Save a report to keep it on the repo. Open it later to adjust hours with a reason, or print it as a PDF.
Reading a report
A report lists each eligible piece of work, why it qualifies, who did it and the estimated hours. It ends with a conclusion you can reuse in your claim.
On a Past report, Show activity lists the work sessions behind the rebuilt hours. Open a session to see each action in it: commits, ticket changes, comments and pull requests. To keep what Jira comments say out of the report and the claim PDF, turn off Show comment text in Settings, SR&ED profile. Comments still count toward the hours.
With Jira connected, each piece of work lists its Jira proof. A ticket is attached when a commit or pull request names it (Ticket key), or when what the code changes matches the ticket (By code). Then an AI check reads the work's uncertainty and its code changes and keeps only tickets that are part of the SR&ED work. Tickets for routine work in the same code, like a styling or typo fix, are listed under Related but not counted. Their time never counts. Each ticket says why it was attached.
- Remove takes a ticket off this work. Add a reason if you like. It moves to removed by you, where Undo puts it back.
- Count it counts a ticket the AI called routine. It shows as Counted by you.
- Add ticket searches the tickets read for these dates and attaches one by hand. The AI checks it in the background and shows a note if it disagrees. Your choice stands.
- Your choices are kept when you run the report again, on the work with the same commits. If that work is gone, the report lists the choice so you can redo it.
A Jira ticket can match work in two repos of the same project. Its logged time still counts once: in the repo whose commits mention the ticket key, else the stronger match. The other repo keeps the ticket as proof, marked Counted in that repo with 0 h. To move it, click Count it here. The claim adds up hours the same way.
Save and print
- Save keeps the report on that repo. Nothing is saved until you press it.
- Print / Save PDF makes a clean document for your files or your preparer.
- Saved reports stay in this browser. Print them to keep a copy elsewhere.
Adjust hours
Open a saved report and click Adjust hours. Nudge values up or down and say why. The report is not re-run; your changes and reasons are kept with it.
Always add a reason
If the CRA asks why a number changed, the reason is already written down.
This guide helps you prepare. It is not tax advice. Have your SR&ED preparer review your claim before you file.
