Part 3 · Using the app
Set up your account
Enter your company once. Every project, assessment and report reads from it.
Business details
Open Account from the top of the projects board. The Business tab holds your legal name, Business Number (9 digits, from the CRA), program account (usually RC0001), address and a short description of the company.
Add Where the R&D happens too. Provinces add their own credits, so the location matters.
SR&ED profile
The SR&ED profile tab asks the questions that decide how much comes back to you:
- CCPC? Canadian-controlled private corporations can earn the 35% refundable credit.
- Fiscal year end. Sets your filing deadline.
- Last year's taxable income and capital (optional). Helps estimate your limit.
- Associated companies. Related companies share one limit.
- Claimed before? and government funding for the same work.
- Your accountant or claim preparer (optional).
What counts as evidence sets the smallest commit a Past assessment will use (5 changed lines of code by default). Smaller commits, docs-only commits, merges, lockfiles and bot commits are left out, and the report says how many.
Tools you use
The Tools tab lists the apps your team works in, and links to GitHub. Assessments use it to understand how you build.
Nothing is kept until you save
When you change anything, a Save bar appears at the bottom. Press Save (or Cmd/Ctrl + S).

About a minute with the tour.
This guide helps you prepare. It is not tax advice. Have your SR&ED preparer review your claim before you file.
